First published in 2018, the 2023 Asia Power Index maps the distribution of power in the Indo-Pacific, from Pakistan in the west, to the United States in the east. The 2023 edition gives insight into the most important strategic issues in Asia, including the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on China's standing in Asia; the revitalisation of key alliances and partnerships under the Biden administration; the mixed performance of the region's middle powers, especially India and Japan; and how Southeast Asia, including smaller Southeast Asian countries are exerting their own diplomatic influence.
