Dr Weihuan Zhou is Associate Professor, Director of Research, and Co-Director of the China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre at the Faculty of Law and Justice, UNSW Sydney. His research explores current issues in international economic law, particularly the nexus between international trade law and China. His new book “Between Market Economy and State Capitalism: China’s State-Owned Enterprises and The World Trading System” offers a detailed discussion of the evolution of China’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Dr Zhou is a regular commentator on contemporary developments in international economic law, particularly those relating to China, in a wide range of major media outlets and platforms. He is co-Secretary of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL), a leading global membership organisation for academics, practitioners and officials, and is on the editorial boards of the World Trade Review and the Journal of International Trade Law and Policy. He also consults for governments and major companies on trade remedy cases and other cross-border trade and investment matters.
