Rosie Keane was appointed Consul General of Ireland in Sydney in September 2021. She is originally from Connemara, in County Galway. She attended Kylemore Abbey before obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree (History, Politics and Sociology) and Higher Diploma in Business Studies from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and also holds academic qualifications in Law (Institute of Public Administration), Legislative Drafting (The Honourable Society of Kings Inn), Financial Services (University College Dublin), Tax (The Irish Taxation Institute) and Leadership (Oxford University).
Following university, Rosie worked for a number of years in the finance sector in a number of multinationals, before joining the Department of Finance as a policy analyst in International Financial Services. She joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2016, initially as Deputy Director for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation. In 2017 she was posted to the Irish Embassy in London as Brexit First Secretary/Deputy Director.
